Bourne of Mel

I tried Vegemite this morning.  Wow, is that stuff salty!  I don't get the fascination...but you know I'll give it another try anyway!
It’s raining today in Melbourne, so I’m jumping among museums and WiFi hotspots.  Tomorrow afternoon I’ll head SE to Venus Bay, so for now, you can check out some Hawk’s-eye views of Melbourne and surrounds from the last couple of (sunny) days by going to my EveryTrail trip site!  This is the first time I've tried this out, so let me know if it doesn't work!  if you can't see the app below, go to: The Hawk in Oz @ EveryTrail.com

  1. Whoa, you are brave to try Vegemite! I tried that stuff once...the smell should have told me otherwise, but I thought I had to try it. Blech! If you feel like it, bring some back for Jake...we had a dare on the Antarctic cruise that he couldn't eat all of...hmm, I can't remember how much...but a lot of Vegemite. Unfortunately, our supply ran out before he was able to try!

That aquarium looks amazing! The EveryTrail app worked great. :)

  2. P.S. Is this the bird call you heard? I thought you might like this website anyway for your travels--it's a bird identifier for Australia! http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Manorina-melanophrys

  3. Hey Heather, so glad to hear that you made it safely. Spring Break 2011! Woo! MJ and I were laughing so hard at your comment about the number of free inflight meals. Way to brave the vegemite, those auzzie and kiwis are a strange breed. We have some in our cupboard right now. Enjoyed the photos too. Who'd of thought; a famous Shaw family member all the way out there. Well, we wish you many a free meal on your adventures. Much love.

  4. yay for Vegemite! It's not too bad if you put a thin layer on heavily buttered toast :) Good to see you are enjoying yourself in OZ!
